Call All-In vs. shorter stack, or fold - AQs
$20 Multi on Stars - 660 to start, down to ~150
Villain in the hand hasn't stood out to me, seems like a reasonable player. Blinds are 100/200 25 Ante Hero has ~T6000 Villain has ~T3000 Avg chip count is ~T5000 Hero is MP w/A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Pre-flop: Folded to Hero who raises to T800, fold to villain in LP who goes all in for T3000 (2200 more to call). Pot has 4325 in it, it's 2200 to call, so more or less, i'm getting 2:1. What to do????????? |

Re: Call All-In vs. shorter stack, or fold - AQs
I think the pot odds justify a call. He could have AK, but just as likely 10-10, JJ or some other pair. I think laying it down would be too tight with 2:1 odds, but that's just my opinion. Tough one though.

Re: Call All-In vs. shorter stack, or fold - AQs
OMG, It has happened. I actually recommend a call with AQs here. I know it cant be so but I dont think your looking at AA or KK the way it was played.(of course im sure it will be in the results thread lol) This smells of JJ or 10-10 or QQ or AK. Because its suited(wooohooo extra 5%) and bc yu made such a big initial raise(it really depends on the other stack sizes at the table but I like to have wiggle room with AQ) I think it is correct to call here.

Re: Call All-In vs. shorter stack, or fold - AQs
I disagree here. 2-1 pot odds doesn't mean as much when it's for half your stack in a no limit tourney. You have a healthy stack with blinds at 100-200, why change that? It is highly unlikely that your a favorite here and fairly likely to be far behind.
Fold and keep your 5200. Peace Goodie |

I'm with the call crowd on this one. Unless the player has QQ, AK, KK, or AA, your call is justfied, I mean you're getting 2-1 on your money with AQs and could very well be up against JJ or TT.

Re: Call All-In vs. shorter stack, or fold - AQs
I think most would agree it is mathematically correct to call, but sometimes it's easier said than done when risking half of your stack. You have to take chances in a tournament, you have a pretty good hand, and a small chance of AK is the only thing to worry about here. I'd be interested to hear the results. These are the hands that make or break tournaments.
