when i search, though, i get only a page of results. how do i search the archives?

Click the "Older Archives" link at left. This brings up a page saying "Click here to read the recent archives." From the linked page, you can you can use the search function as you normally would. Not exactly user friendly, but there you have it....

If you're only getting one page of results, set your search to go back more than a week or whatever the default is.
