Default Bar League in Chicago

Finally got a response from the Holiday Club. I have heard of similar leagues in other cities.

Holiday Club is one of several bar hosting these poker tourneys.
We are beginning on this Sunday the 21st. There are two tournaments
one at 6 and one at 9. We will be having it every sun. there after .

Any one can play, it costs nothing, you sign up and get a player number and
accumulate points depending how you do, however there is no obligation to play every week.
but if you like, you can play at any of the events other days of the weeks at other
location as well. c'mon by sundays, have some drink watch some football and play some cards.

I don't follow, "It costs nothing." Is this play money? If so, why bother?

I'm guessing at the end of the "season" there are prizes for those with the most accumulated points. It's basically a series of freeroll tournaments played for prizes. Not appealing to me, but I guess this keeps it all legal. They just want you to be there and drink.

Dead on.

I don't know what the prizes are here, but my friend plays in a similar league in WI.

$50 if you win a weekly tourney, and a trip to Vegas for the overall winner.
