Live $40 Single table Sattelite - Commerce
Live $33+7 single table satellite at Commerce Casino in LA. 1st place gets $300 in tournament entry fees and $30 cash. 2nd Place gets a big nothing.
We’re down to 3 players with the blinds at T50-T100. I am on the button with T1150 (iirc). BB has about T200, SB has about T1650. I get dealt As5c. What’s my play? Although second place gets nothing, this is live, so deals are a possibility – something I overlooked at the time b/c I’m so used to playing online. |

id push. BB prolly will call with a worse hand and SB will only call if he has a good hand. you have good enough fold equity to push IMO

Re: Live $40 Single table Sattelite - Commerce
I normally push this (A5o w/ <10bb) in an online SNG, but not at these stack sizes. A5o is not strong enough to risk busting out 3rd when I can fold into 2nd. If I'm called it's likely I'm dominated or only have one overcard to a middle pair.
Here though, there is no benefit to folding into second unless I can make a deal with the other guy. I'll probably have about 1/3 of the chips when we get to heads-up giving me some leverage. Note: I'm not that good at reading people yet. The big stack was playing pretty solid though - not too tight, not too loose (we started with T300 and T5-T15 blinds). When we are about 4 or 5 left, I was able to double up off the big stack which put in the position above, though I can't remember the details of that hand. Small stack was either very tight or card cold. |

1st is the only one that gets paid. Outside of a deal a push is no question. You have a decent chance to get the SB plus eat up the BB to move into HU with fairly even stacks.
