I am turning bronze (3rd place reference)
I quad table NL 30 SNG's at party and am finishing a weird 3 hour session tonight.
in the money in 9/14 games 8 3rd place finishes 1 2nd place definately a little different than my normal distribution, and not too good for the ROI. |

Think what you would be saying if you had 8 4ths [/ QUOTE ] I have had those nights, as has every SNG player. The truth is those 3rd place finishes do add up when you can sneak into them, but you have to maintain a good % of 1st/2nd place finishes to maintain that 30-36% ROI at the N30's. After I finished writing this post I finished my last 3 games of the night. 3 hours quad tabling N30's tonight: 17 games money: 10/17 1st:1 2nd:1 3rd: 8 ROI 28.3% for the night hourly rate 53.33 those 3rd places did certainly add up |

Re: I am turning bronze (3rd place reference)
It's one of those things that's impossible to judge from here.
You only need to panic if a large % of those were games you felt you were cruising in and then fell to third. A lot of my extra ROI seems to come from turning hopeless SNGs into 3rd places, and so sometimes this kind of result could be a great night. Lori |

Re: I am turning bronze (3rd place reference)
Results over a 14 SNG stretch have no effect on your ROI. In order for us to call that pretty little number in our spreadsheets our "ROI", there has to be a confidence interval associated with it. I don't know, whatever you'd like: maybe +/- 5% with 95% confidence or something.
Well, if your ROI is 30% +/- 5% with 95% confidence, then 14 SNGs won't change that. If not... then you don't have an ROI, you just have some results. Irieguy |

Re: I am turning bronze (3rd place reference)
I think any good SnG player will have nights with a ton of 3rd places. This means most likely that you are pushing for 1st, and that is a good thing.
I have days all the time through 30 SnGs that I have a crappy roi with a 45% ITM because I would string 3rds. Running into monsters all the time, or getting sucked out on. It happens. I would almost think that a string of 2nd places would be a better indicator of something wrong with your game. |
