Top 2 pair played too fast?
Did I play this too fast?
Villian is super-aggro. He raises every flop and raises PF maybe every third hand, regardless of what he has (he re-raised $10 PF with 2 4o about 10 hands ago). He also has called down big raises to river with TPNK etc. PP $ BB. Full ring. I'm in MP3 with A Q o ($80), he is button ($160) 1 caller to me who limps. Villian raises $4, I call and it's HU. Flop: A Q 6, two spades. None of my cards is a spade. I check (knowing he'll bet it) Villian bets $4 I raise to $15. Results and my thought process later. |

Re: Top 2 pair played too fast?
how is this too fast?
he could very well be semibluffing and the times he has an ace, me might just pay you off. I think you played it fine. |

Re: Top 2 pair played too fast?
Looks good to me.
If he has a tendancy to call down (as you say he does), then make him pay. Hopefully he actually has a hand this time (AK) and you can stack him |

Re: Top 2 pair played too fast?
If it were a rainbow flop, you might wait till the turn to check-raise. But since another spade will kill your action, put the raise in now.
Actually, another great approach is to bet out. If he is very aggressive, he might raise as a bluff, or just because he thinks his TPNK is good. Then you check-raise the turn. |
