Trips in HU
This hand got me wondering about Flopping trips in HU action (i tried using the hand converter, but it wasn't working):
600/1200 TourneyTexasHTGameTable (NL) (Tournament 6951870) - Thu Nov 04 07:26:03 EST 2004 Table Table 14213 (Real Money) -- Seat 7 is the button Total number of players : 2 Seat 6: luvrhino (4340) Seat 7: opp (5660) opp posts small blind (300) luvrhino posts big blind (600) ** Dealing down cards ** Dealt to luvrhino [ Jh, Qh ] opp raises (900) to 1200 luvrhino calls (600) ** Dealing Flop ** : [ 3c, Qd, Qs ] luvrhino checks. opp checks. ** Dealing Turn ** : [ 5s ] luvrhino checks. opp bets (600) luvrhino raises (1200) to 1200 opp raises (1200) to 1800 luvrhino raises (1200) to 2400 opp raises (1200) to 3000 luvrhino calls (600) ** Dealing River ** : [ 9c ] luvrhino bets (140) luvrhino is all-In. opp calls (140) Creating Main Pot with $8680 with luvrhino ** Summary ** Main Pot: 8680 | Board: [ 3c Qd Qs 5s 9c ] luvrhino balance 8680, bet 4340, collected 8680, net +4340 [ Jh Qh ] [ three of a kind, queens with jack kicker -- Qh,Qd,Qs,Jh,9c ] opp balance 1320, lost 4340 [ Ts Qc ] [ three of a kind, queens -- Qc,Qd,Qs,Ts,9c ] First of all, would anyone here ever think about folding trips in HU? I would if i got trips with no kicker or the board was coordinated with my similarly stacked opp going All-in. My other question regards how to maximize one's stack after Flopping trips. I wanted this to lead to an All-in. If i lost, then i lose. I realize i should have just gone All-in after the re-raise on the Turn, but i'm lazy and the min-raise button was so much more convenient than the slidy bar or something. Anyway, if i'm first to act, i should simply check on the Flop or bet? I figure that most people are checking in this situation with a bet meaning that i probably paired the non-paired part of the Flop or that i'm bluffing. If the board is fairly coordinated, i bet the trips right away to make draws unprofitable. I realize that i was fortunate here in that my opp also got trips, but with a kicker just less than mine. |
