Default Red Sox - Yankees $100,000 bet

At the Foxwoods tables yesterday, there was a rumor that a guy put $100K down on the Red Sox in Vegas after Game 3 and bet that the Sox would win the World Series and got tremendous odds like 50-1. Any truth to this rumor?

Also, my tablemates said that the Sox winning the Series was foretold in the Back to the Future 2 movie on the cover of a newspaper.

I'd imagine that odds would be greater than 50-1.

The odds of most online books was 17-1. I doubt Vegas was offering 50-1. Nice score either way.

The Back to the Future thing intrigues me. Any more details?

17-1 after being down 3-0? I knew there was a reason why I don't bet baseball.

The Back to the Future 2 thing isn't true, the paper had the Cubs winning against "Miami" in 2015.

If so, they guy got ripped off. 50-1? That's a joke. How many times in baseball had teams been down 3-0 in a series? What about other professional sports? And how many comebacks have their been?

I saw exactly 50-to-1 at the Luxor sportsbook the morning after Game 3.

Almost certainly false. Books don't let you put that kind of action on 50-to-1 lines without moving the line. You might get $1000 down, but then they'd insist on moving the line if you wanted to bet more.

What does this have to do with the accuracy of Back to the Future?

50-1 is way low down 0-3 for just the AL series but to win the world series is a rip. Seriously like 100-1 to win the whole thing, world series and all after being 0-3 is low but within the realm. So maybe he bet 1k and got 100k in return. Agreed most books don't let you have that kind of action of 50-1 to 100-1 odds.
