This is fine. If you hadn't hit the ace I would have tried to check it down.

Eh, not terrible, but considering the fact that he called 100, you usually have to give him credit for SOMETHING, and especially when he calls 300 on the flop. I'd immdiately have put him on a set, flush draw with probable overcards,(possibly with a ten), or AT, none of which thrill you on the flop, one of which does some on the turn, but by that time, you betting yer last 455 still gives him close to proper odds even with a flush draw only. It you check turn, he prolly checks river. Again, not horrible, but pretty self-weighting.

In hindsight, I probably should have only bet 1/2 the pot on the flop to keep some some fold equity. I was worried that a smaller bet would look weak. And I wanted to get at least one of the other callers to fold so that it would be HU.

My read on villain was flush draw, that's why I pushed on the turn.

I would probably have been better off checking the turn. When the 3rd diamond came off on the river, I would have folded to any bet and I don't think villain would have bet into the flush either.

Oh well, that's poker. I've trapped others with the same play when I make my set.

BTW - Should I have bet more PF? Do you think that would have convinced the small PP to fold?

Thanks, Steve

I suppose there is some arguement for keeping the pot small after hitting your ace, but if this was from a $10 - $30 pushing the turn is definetely +EV because you definetely will be called by worse hands.

It's okay as long as you were not going to follow up again if you missed on the turn.

FWIW this is a case where you shouldn't be slider-lazy, you can save chips by betting 230 or something here and still get the exact same results on the flop.
