Default Moving to Minnesota; bringing the beitzim to Canterbury!

So, the wife and I are foolishly moving to MN in the dead of winter. I'll be up 11/5 - 11/11 to take an ethics test for licensure, look for home/office space and play a lot of poker in the evenings. I usually check in as Milo, and sometimes wear my avatar on my shirt pocket (although it's too frickin cold for my avatar t-shirts, so you'll have to look for the fat, 40-ish psychologist in the CP fishing hat). Say hello to a fellow 2+2er and welcome me to the frozen tundra you call home. I expect to be in the casino from 5:30 p.m. through 1:30 a.m. all week (except Monday night, gotta study ). I'll be anywhere from 4/8 to 8/16, unless I grow some real beitzim and take a crack at the 15/30.

We are hoping to move to somewhere around Chaska/Chanhassen/Eden Prairie, and I welcome any advice/feedback via PM.

-Milo

A somewhat premature welcome to the frozen tundra. I will try to make it out one of the days you are here. I will look for you.

I am also a slightly overweight 40's guy. Bill C is my board name.

I live in Eden Prairie and I love it. It's a suburb in the SW portion of the Twin Cities but it's just far enough out that you still get lots of coutryside, trees, parks, etc. The area seems to be growing rapidly so who knows how long that will last. I like being just on the outskirts of the cities where everything is close enough to get to, but you aren't stuck in the middle of it.

Plus, if you're in Eastern Eden Praire, you are only 5 minutes from Canterbury. Well, that is if Hwy 169 isn't plugged up.

Which, come to think of it, aint all that often lately.

Cool! I'm moving to Minnesota this month as well!

My wife and I will be there on a house-hunting trip on 11/19-23 and I'll be there full time on 12/5.

I'm not sure where we are going to live yet - I'd like to be close to my office, that's for sure. My current commute is f'ing killing me and I definitely want to trim that down. So, we'll probably end up in Bloomington or Eden Prarie, etc...

I met NoChance and a couple other lurkers when I was there interviewing a few weeks back. Not sure when I'll make it in but I'll try to whenever I have the chance.

Good Luck!

Damn. I'd say I'm the guy with hair WAY too short for Minnesota, but with the hat on, well...

Last time I was there, the games were good, but not nearly as good as Vegas, where I was maybe one of one or two decent players at the table. I moved a lot, looking for that "Vegas" game I'd experienced on my trip to Mecca. I'll probably still move around a bit, as I get more acclimated to CP-style games. When that Kirsten Dunst-looking board girl calls out a table change for "Milo," that'd be me.

Hey milo,

Lookin' forward to running into you! Welcome to the Great White North, in advance (but we have GORGEOUS summers).

I'll make sure to stop and say hi sometime, although I'm one of the other huge age group - guys who look way too young to be there. Figure that out later though.

Having never been to Vegas, I dare say you won't be disappointed in the 'Bury's games these days, with what I believe to be a very good number of total LAGs and people who just generally have no idea what they're doing. Last time I was there I played with a guy at 15/30 who bought in for 200...twice. Some play well, of course, but they eventually stick out like a sore thumb.

And there's nothing wrong with seeing Lisa on the boards every now and then...

See you around!

EDIT: Welcome to Sucka, too! Hope you guys like it up here...for where I've been, there's not a better combo of warm sunny summers and colder, snowy winters anywhere. Of course, I'm stupid enough to LIKE the cold sometimes...

I've heard that the 8/16 game is ridiculous.

You heard right - word has it its the craziest game in the house. I've only sat at it once, but I have to say what I saw definitely backed that up. There's maniacs everywhere, they just seem to gravitate toward the game that produces the biggest ocean of chips, and this is it.
