Taking/Reading Notes at Table
Is one allowed to 1) bring notes to a table and/or 2) take notes while at a table? I would like to carry a 3X5 card with a general outline of starting hand requirements, that I can pull out if I feel my standards beginning to slip. Am I allowed to pull this out at the table, or must I leave the table first? Also, may I take notes on other players, or on specific hands, while at the table, or must I leave the table first? -- Thanks, Homer J. |

Hello,Homer! No rule against...
taking/reading notes--even if U are keeping a profile of other players. BUT U are like the player watching TV or playing bingo at the table. U will be distracted from important observations like noticing "tells". U really want to focus on the players and their playing styles and NOT take notes at the table. If U play with some "regulars",u are correct to keep a book profile on them--but the notes should be taken away from the table. Players who observe U taking notes might "change gears" on U,thus rendering your notes useless. Take periodic breaks AWAY from the table and then take a few notes. At the table,U need to concentrate on your opponents, their "tells"and their playing styles--NOt take notes. Happy pokering, Sitting Bull |
