Default Why you don\'t slowplay. Or do. Or... I don\'t know.

This is mostly a look-at-the-big-pot-I-won post. I thought it was interesting though to think about the flop action. When I was acting I felt there was little chance of the flop being checked through, as it hadn't happened in ages, and that at this table, my bet out would be unusual and a sign of strength. Despite these drawbacks, I nearly bet anyways as there are so many hands that can give me action. Note that the preflop raiser flopped the "nut" flush, and was checking on a slowplay himself. Terrible... until you notice that the third guy in the hand would have been knocked out by any flop action!

Party Poker 15/30 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: elindauer is UTG with T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
elindauer calls, UTG+1 calls, 2 folds, MP3 calls, CO raises, 1 fold, SB calls, BB calls, elindauer calls, UTG+1 calls, MP3 calls.

Flop: (12 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (6 players)

Zoinks!

SB checks, BB checks, elindauer (seriously considers betting but instead just) checks, UTG+1 checks, MP3 checks, CO checks (?! really bad play IMO).

Turn: (6 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (6 players)

But the free card worked! 55 just got sucked in for eight big bets. Oops.

SB checks, BB checks, elindauer bets, UTG+1 calls, MP3 calls, CO raises, SB folds, BB folds, elindauer 3-bets, UTG+1 folds, MP3 calls, CO caps, elindauer calls, MP3 calls.

River: (19 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)

elindauer bets, MP3 raises (poor guy), CO 3-bets (huh? poor hand reading), elindauer caps, MP3 calls, CO calls.

Final Pot: 31 BB
Main Pot: 31 BB, between elindauer, MP3 and CO.

Results:
elindauer has Th Kh (straight flush, king high).
MP3 has 5h 5c (full house, fives full of nines).
CO has 3h Ah (flush, ace high).
Outcome: elindauer wins 31 BB.

It's not every day your opponents put in 16 big bets drawing dead. This hand was near perfect for me.

Nice hand! It's not every day that you flop a straight flush.

Although a friend of mine made two straight flushes in one hour a couple years ago. I saw it too. I'd swear online poker is rigged, except that was at the Eldorado in Reno.

KTs should be folded UTG.

I take it the absence of a smiley means you're serious?

I fold it at almost all Party 15 tables.

Me too.

KJs is my borderline in which i'll either limp or raise. KTs QJs are folded.

Default elin, you played it much better than i would have . . .

because I would of fainted on the flop, disconnected, taken down a few measly SBs after being "all in", suffer ridicule by the other players, and, last but not least, been chastised by PP for disconnecting.

God, I hope I never get a hand like that!

I think this is a playable hand, even UTG, but certainly not on all Party tables. It depends on the players behind me.

lol. Thanks for the broad generic statement about how to play hands with no knowledge of the players at your table. Please ignore the fact that on this hand alone, we saw the flop six handed, I got tremendous action on my winner, players put in too many bets and raises with hands that looked likely beaten, and assume that I haven't put the least bit of thought into whether or not I can play this hand against this group. In fact, I think you could watch just this one hand and make an educated guess that limping with KTs UTG is profitable. Guys were limping in with J2o in this game. One guy called four flop bets with 22 on a Q95 board. I know because he turned a 2 against my two pair and... called down. This game was nothing like the type of tight and tough game you would need to fold this hand UTG.

If you're just pointing out that sometimes KTs is foldable UTG, although probably not here, than fine. That's true.

Good luck.
Eric
