Default Bush/ Kerry What\'s the difference?

Am I the only person who doesn't see a significant difference between Bush and Kerry, or the Republican and Democratic party? Both candidates are rich kid Yale graduates from the same exclusive death and war obsessed old boys club fraternity. Think about it, how different can their ideals really be? Both parties are marching us to a one world Orwellian government. First the left foot, then the right. Ever read 1984? Do these cameras popping up every where concern any one else? Does the whole Bin Laden scam remind you of Goldstein? How about the constant threat of terrorism being akin to the rocket attacks. Doublespeak is definitely here. (Ex. peacekeeper missile) And the word patriot has been stripped of its original meaning. No true patriot would support the Patriot Act.

I'm so disenchanted by this whole presidential puppet show that I'm throwing away my vote on the Libertarian candidate as a protest. At least they seem to value the Constitution. The fact that Kerry and Bush are afraid to debate with the Libertarian and Green party candidates should show you what sort of phony cowards you may be supporting.

Well until election day I'll be watching my telescreen. Oooo its almost time for the two minute hate.

And for the last time, BUSH IS NOT A TEXAN. He is a yankee from Maine.

Wow, your ignorance shines through on this point.

Kennebunkport is a vacation home, by your standard Kerry is from Idaho (home of Theresa's ski lodge).

Actually he's right and most Texans refer to the Bush's as "those damn yankee carpetbaggers."

GWB was actually born in CT. Kerry was born in CO. Where their ideals were shaped is likely more important. Bush moved to Odessa TX when he was 2 years old.

This stuff aside, I agree with the overall theme of your post. Both mainline candiates offer the same thing: Socialism and eventual kneeling at the altar of the UN. GWB will take surface streets to get there. Kerry will hop right on the expressway.

I think from a personal standpoint there is something to be said for both men being similar. They were both raised in privileged environments, regardless of the state. But I think that is about where the differences end. Both attended and graduated from Yale, but in distinctly different manners. Both men’s professional careers have been distinctly different as well.

As far as the parties are concerned, there are many similarities but also many glaring, almost radioactive differences. The largest is the abortion issue, which the republicans, needing to pander to the religious right as their base, oppose vehemently, to the point of Roe v. Wade very likely being overturned if GWB is elected again. This extends to the gay marriage issue as well.

Democrats, needing to pander to the inner city/urban population that is their base, is more likely to spend tax dollars on entitlement programs, such as Social Security, welfare, AFDC and the like. The easiest place to get the tax dollars for this is to raise income taxes on the personal incomes of the top 5% of the population.

Democrats in general will try to spend their way out of a national recession; Republicans will attempt to use supply side economics (tax cuts for the upper class and businesses). Republicans are for more personal responsibility and accountability, except when it concerns your sex life. Democrats are for more equality, government regulation of business for the protection of the people and environment and less defense spending.

Your information does not indicate what state you live (or vote) in. If you are in one of the 40 or so states that are uncontested, please feel free to lodge your protest vote for Badnarik, Nader or whomever. If you are in one of the 10-12 ‘battleground states’ I urge to assess which issue or issues are most important to you and vote for the major party candidate of your choice.

My personal view is that I want the deficit under control, I want our nation to be respected again, and I want a President that I can trust to run the country. On all three of those topics, I cannot in good faith vote for GWB and will be casting my vote in Colorado for Sen. Kerry.

For your sanity, don't do a search on Kerry/Opium - you don't want to know where his family got its money.

Hey I'll check out the Kerry opium web search. I'm fully aware that behind every great fortune is a great crime. No surprise, the Skull & Bones founder was also from a family that capitalized on the opium trade. I would say that supporting the opium trade is at least a little less evil than supporting the Nazi war machine. Heck, we had to straighten things out in Afghanistan because that darned ole Taliban was inhibiting opium production. But everything is okay now, opium production is getting back to normal now that the good ole USA is taking care of business.
