Red Sox chances?
Things aren't looking good for us sox fans. I havent given up yet, but I am feeling pretty down about it. Obviously a game 3 win is necessary at this point, and we will need some sort of performance from Wakefield on Saturday. I like Wakefield, but he scares me since he gives up so many hr's. I think we have to pull to 2-2 to have a realistic chance of winning this thing.
What odds would you need to bet FOR the Red Sox to win the ALCS now? Discuss. |

Re: Red Sox chances?
Well, they are 4-1 dogs now. So if you think they have better than a 20% chance, you should bet them. If not, bet the Yankees.

Re: Red Sox chances?
So 4-1 is the "official line". Hell, thats only as bad as getting all in with KK vs. AA
I would probably not take them at those odds though, especially considered the Schilling injury problem. |

Re: Red Sox chances?
I was thinking more like 7 or 8 to 1 considering the Schilling ankle problem.....

Re: Red Sox chances?
If each team was even money to win each of the remaining games, they should be 7-1 dogs. Teams usually perform much worse when in 2-0 and 3-0 holes so I'd probably want 9-1 or so, unless I thought the Red Sox were a much better playoff team than the Yankees(!).
I'd take the Yankees in a heart-beat if someone is really offering 1-4 odds. |

Re: Red Sox chances?
If each team was even money in each of the remaining games,
the RedSox would have exactly a 3/16 chance of winning and would be 13-3 underdogs. If the current odds are 4-1, then one can't really expect to gain very much betting on Boston. |

Re: Red Sox chances?
I don't know how I came up with 7-1 last night, I'm getting exactly 4-1 now if they were to play out all 5 remaining games.
