Default $30 SNG...Jacks

I hate Jacks as much as the next solid player...but there comes a point when you know you're ahead...or most likely ahead and you have to roll the dice....how do you like this call considering my position (button on a cutoff reraise all in):

I put him on 1 overcard, with a Jack as his highest kicker

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (7 handed)

MP1 (t1045)
MP2 (t525)
CO (t1020)
Hero (t2670)
SB (t1095)
BB (t980)
UTG (t665)

Preflop: Hero is Button with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG folds, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, CO raises to t1020 (All-In), Hero calls t1020, SB folds, BB folds.

Flop: (t2340) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Turn: (t2340) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: (t2340) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: t2340
Main Pot: t2340 (t2340), between CO and Hero. > Pot won by CO (t2340).

Results in white below:
CO has As 4h (one pair, aces).
Hero has Js Jd (one pair, jacks).
Outcome: CO wins t2340.

I would have called their as well. the fact that the SB and BB also have short stacks I can see him going after them.

it's funny that you mention you hate jacks. i told my roommate the other day that it was my most hated hand and he could not understand why. i think it's his 4th favourite hand.

I think you had to call as well
but you should probably go all-in just to scare off sb and bb if they are sitting on overcards...

I hate Jacks as much as the next solid player

[/ QUOTE ]

I personally really enjoy jacks in an SNG. I find that they are much easier to play than in a typical ring game, as you're often either all-in with them, or playing them almost exclusively for set value.

Of course I agree that you made the correct play in this situation.

Only my opinion,

Zephyr
