BJ tournaments
Anyone regularly play BJ or other casino tournaments B&M or online and find them profitable? I guess the variance is huge since since mostly the first price is all you aim for. Is their money to be made here on a consistent basis or is it just another crapshot?

Re: BJ tournaments
Stanford Wong has a book called Casino Tournament Strategy, or something similar. I just ordered it from Amazon, maybe I'll post a review here after I read it.
Gambling Theory and Other Topics has a short chapter on BJ tournament strategy, although I can't judge it because I've never played a BJ tournament. |

Re: BJ tournaments
I've played in two BJ tournaments; I have been the bubble boy in both of them. It seems to me that the player betting the max on every hand, is always the winner. Throw all your progressive betting strategy out the window.

Re: BJ tournaments
It's a crapshoot. I played in about 10 last winter. They cost $30 bucks to play and 1st place is $2000--a nice overlay...
Anyway, I made the semis 5 times and bombed out 5 times. Didn't make the final table. When I made the semi's it was usually on the last hand doubling down on 12 and getting a nine or 18 and getting a 3, etc. Crazy plays on the last couple of hands is what it boils down to. Play for fun and if you make money its a bonus. |
