Key Hand #2: 1 table HU too loose of a call or...?
the guy had been going all-in about 3 out of the last 5 or 6 hands. we had been playing HU for awhile, me coming from the shortstack and playing even. i had won a few smaller pots at the showdown and got to see some really suspect holdings. i figured the guy was getting impatient and put him on a hand you would play when, 'you just wanna get it over with'. i was right, but as you see, it did'nt work out in the end. is this call to loose, despite my observation of his play, or.....[add your take on the hand].

You got in against a dominated hand. What are you complaining about?

Eh... It's a fine call. You can probably lay it down, but that's a lot more questionable than calling with what he's been doing.

Re: Key Hand #2: 1 table HU too loose of a call or...?
I don't like this call. The two of you are basically dead even in stack sizes, and deep enough to play a little poker.
You say he has been showing some questionable holdings and appears to be impatient. I think that is precisely the time to exercise some patience of your own. You had him dominated on that hand, yes, but QJ is only Q high before the flop. You could make a case for calling with this hand if the stack size ratio was 3-1 (whether you are the small stack, or the big stack), but not when they are 1-1. Look at it this way - he is impatient, he is splashing around; you are patient, you know how different hands match up versus each other, hot and cold. Advantage . . . you. |

Rvrn if this guy is going allin with weak hands, QJ does not figure to be better than what he has.

Re: Key Hand #2: 1 table HU too loose of a call or...?
I dont like this call. QJ is fine hand, but when your going all-in with it with an opponent who has a similar stack of chips, its not very good. Even if he had 7,2 your QJ is only a 60-65% favorite. Putting all your chips on this hand isnt good, no matter who it is. Now ... if you were 4-1 or 5-1 in chips, sure why not. Also, if you were the short stack and you got a few people betting big, go all in because of your pot odds being so good and your stack size.

Re: Key Hand #2: 1 table HU too loose of a call or...?
I don't like this call. It's very possible your opponent has just had ok holding 3 of the last 5 hands, for one.
QJ just isn't a powerhouse against a whole lot of holdings. It is a significant (58%) favorite over a completely random hand, but only a 53% favorite over a set that throws out only a big pile of junk i chose at random (really bad junk). The blinds are still not ridiculous here, so I think I'd wait for a slighly better hand. If you suspect he's going to continue this behavior, just wait for any pair, any king, or any ace. You're going ot have a better edge in those cases. This QJ is just a little looser than I'd make the call. Clearly, it's just well, one notch lower than "every king," so it's close. I don't like being behind every hand with a king in it, basically citanul |
