Default 40 Games in (about) 50 Hours

I'm going to post the results from my weekend.

My goal is 40 games before midnight Sunday. I'll post as much as I can, and try to keep a running tally of ITM and ROI.

2nd.

Should have got first, but my cards went to crap on me.

The blinds were at 300/600, plus 50, and I'd been forced to fold several times in a row because of crap cards. Then I tried a bluff, got raised all-in, and had to fold again, which pretty much evened us up.

Then I picked up 33. I felt like I needed to make a stand with it - crappy hand that it is.

Now here's my question.

I could have gone all-in with it.

Instead, I made a substantial raise - about half my chips - and planned to put the rest in on the flop regardless.

He called, called again, and turned over J9, for second pair.

Is there a good argument for going all-in, vs betting half and half in this situation?

I'd rather just push with 33 to get maximum folding equity. But if you are not going to push preflop, betting 1/3 of your stack seems better because it leaves you a pot-sized flop bet. I suppose if you read the villain as looser preflop and tighter post flop, then option 2 looks better.

Yes. I've been moving up slowly, from the Party 10's and 20's, to the PS Turbos 15's, and now 25's.

Yes, I've gone back and forth on it.

Do you think a less than all-in bet preflop looks less like a bluff?

Just picked up a 9th on my first game for the morning.

I don't get many ninths, so here it is (yes yes, I know it's a bad beat story):

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t20 (9 handed)

MP2 (t1460)
Hero (t1490)
CO (t1440)
Button (t1450)
SB (t1380)
BB (t1730)
UTG (t1440)
UTG+1 (t1500)
MP1 (t1610)

Preflop: Hero is MP3 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 calls t20, Hero raises to t60, CO folds, Button folds, SB folds, BB calls t40, MP2 calls t40.

Flop: (t190) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB checks, MP2 bets t100, Hero raises to t300, BB calls t300, MP2 calls t200.

Turn: (t1090) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB checks, MP2 checks, Hero bets t1130 (All-In), BB calls t1130, MP2 folds.

River: (t3350) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: t3350

(I have to confess, these kinds of hands still make scream like a little girl.)

He had 67, for the rivered four-outer.

Well, I hate risk making this look like a bad beat thread, but these kinds of things frustrate me.

I promise I'll stop after this.

In this first one, I already had a read on the villian. He'd called a raise on the first hand with 72o. I didn't respect his raise, and wanted to isolate him from the bb.

Preflop: Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

*****

I know this stuff just happens, but it's frustrating.

I can understand why people get superstitious, and become conspiracy theorists.

That makes 4 wins from last night, and one loss, and 2 losses this morning.
