There has been much talk about ESPN faking hands and using the camera to make some people look like heros and others like jerks. One had in particular was in 2003 between Hellmuth and Tony G I think was his name. When he layed down the set to Hellmuth's bluff. I have 2 questions.
1) Does this happen all the time? 2) Without asking for you to slam other people is it accurate in your opinion that ESPN intentionally makes some decent people look bad? Thanks |

OK, close you eyes, and for a moment imagine that you know nothing at all about poker.
Now imagine a full poker table of players all behaving themselves on your TV screen. How does that make you feel? LOL! Hopefully you understand what I am getting at... are you asleep yet? or did you just change the #? >TW< |

I can appreciate what you're saying but from some other threads people have talked about what a great guy Arieh is and how much ESON tried to make him look bad.

Did they dub in Ariehs comments and digitize his mouth?

No Tek I doubt it. Unless the people inside my head left and took over. I just trust some of the people that are his friends. This board seems like it's frequented by so many more people than the board I am usually on. I think I see you on that other board too.

I don't even know the guy, so I wonder why I'm defending him, but I will say that if any of us had a video camera following us around for five days, that someone could then use 5 second bits here and there to make us look bad. ANYTHING can be taken out of context, especially in today's digital age and with producers wanting to sensationalize even the mundane.

I will try and find a thread started by Paul Phillips. Does he have his own website? Go Google it and type that Tony G and Hellmuth in. He showed several pics of how it HAD to be doctored. It totally surprised me but I'm not that smart so pretty much everything catches me by surprise.

I think ESPN is in the mindset of PH being one of the best and most visible players, and since he had been shown making either standard plays or crap plays before that, they wanted to show him making a "great" play.
Mebbe they thought PH's face time was necessary to spur ratings, but that has since proven not necessary. |
