Default Magic Number Madness

I've heard 2 broadcasters today say the Red Sox magic number is 2. have they even looked at the schedule? The Angels play 3 against Texas and 3 against Oakland.

The only possible scenario in which the Sox do not make the playoffs is if they lose the rest of their games, Texas wins the rest of their games *and* Texas wins a one game playoff against Boston.

The Sox have clinched a wild-card tie.

Life has taught me several things. One is that the Cubs will find a way to lose. Two is that there are no sure things in Fenway. Three is not to eat yellow snow.

The only sure thing at fenway is that you will have to miss at least 2 innings if you want a beer. For over twenty years, it has been the only major league park to not sell beer in the stands.

doesn't matter. depending on your seats you can miss 9 innings and never get up. plenty of pole to stare at however.

The Oakland Athletics appear to have adopted this philosophy in the last few years. Last nights game was a good example. Arthur Rhodes is a good example. He use to play with Seattle and was always giving up home runs in the late innings.

Not during the regular season. He would save that for the playoffs.

Thanks for the correction and the lovely reminder.

Since each game is so important right now for some teams, it is essentially 'playoff baseball' right now in the AL and NL West Race.

You're right about that one. Fenway is easily the most overrated major league ballpark.
