Some Hands from Tonight\'s Session
My session tonight was pretty solid - played 1400 hands and made $37 - I didn't win any hands in my first 100-200, so I was fighting from behind for the most part - I was very happy with my results. Anyway, here are a few hands I'd love to have critiqued if anyone has time...
1) Making sure this is an okay way to play AK. Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (10 handed) Preflop: Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 folds, MP2 calls, MP3 folds, CO calls, Button folds, Hero raises, BB folds, MP2 calls, CO calls. Flop: (7 SB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players) Hero bets, MP2 calls, CO calls. Turn: (5 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players) Hero bets, MP2 folds, CO calls. River: (7 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero bets, CO folds. 2)Do I screw up by not re-raising the flop? I don't particularly want to give away my hand this early...I figure if I hit it I can extract extra value...is this wrong? I was also hoping to raise on the river - but the person betting ahead of me lost his nerve - maybe I should have raised on the turn? Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (9 handed) Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. MP2 posts a blind of $0.5. UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, MP1 raises, MP2 (poster) calls, MP3 folds, CO calls, Hero calls, SB folds, BB calls. Flop: (10.50 SB) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players) BB checks, MP1 bets, MP2 folds, CO folds, Hero calls, BB calls. Turn: (6.75 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players) BB checks, MP1 bets, Hero calls, BB calls. Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (9 handed) Preflop: Hero is MP3 with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, Hero raises, CO folds, Button folds, SB calls, BB folds, MP1 calls, MP2 calls. Flop: (9 SB) K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) SB checks, MP1 checks, MP2 checks, Hero bets, SB folds, MP1 folds, MP2 raises, Hero 3-bets, MP2 calls. Re: Some Hands from Tonight\'s Session
Hand 1: I check-call the river.
Hand 2: misplayed on the first three streets. You sure screwed that "extra value" by calling the flop and turn. It involves raising. I have a bad hand, they won't fold. I have a good hand, I don't raise. DOES NOT COMPUTE. Hand 3: Converter screwed up, please PM me the hand. Hand 4: Raise the flop. The pot is small, they'll already be making mistakes. Hand 5: Converter error: please PM me the hand. Hand 6: I don't cap preflop and then I fold the flop. Hand 7: PM me the hand. |

Ajax was awesome enough to forward the misformatted hands on to me, so I could fix the converter. So, to save him the effort:

Re: Some Hands from Tonight\'s Session
1. Unless I had a read that CO was weak on the river I'd check/call. The board doesn't show any draws, so if he's come all this way he either has something, or he's just the usual bad.
2. I'd 3-bet preflop. Then I'd raise the flop. Then I'd raise the turn. 3. Hand 3 is just unfortunate. Not sure how you could have played it any differently....folding the turn might be weak, but I think it's a consideration. Not saying it's correct, but I probably pay this guy an extra 2 BB too :-/ 4. Raise the flop. 5. This looks fine, but don't understand your comment about a player being a bluffer - you were doing all the betting. 6. Just call the 3-bet pre-flop. On the flop someone in front of you is betting into a pre-flop 3-bettor. The chances of it getting raised behind you by UTG + 2 are good, and you don't have any real draws besides overcards which are probably extremely slim. The Q and A of clubs are doubly suspect. Just giving up right there is a good way to save some cash. 7. From a strict odds point of view, you're getting about the right ones on this. 2 T's, 3 4's, and we'll say 1 for a backdoor flush is a tad better than 10:1, and you're getting 9:1 immediately almost closing the action. Still, I'd fold the flop. After button raises the turn, I'd just call the river. You're splitting with another T unless they have KT aor AT, and it would be nice to split MP's extra dollar. Also KT and AT will 3-bet you. |
