Almost a year on 2+2 and still can\'t play this basic crap...
Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (9 handed) converter
Preflop: Hero is MP3 with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG calls, 1 fold, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, Hero calls, 3 folds, BB checks. Flop: (5.50 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players) BB checks, UTG bets, MP1 folds, MP2 calls, Hero... No reads and very loose/passive table. I've read every book on LL play and this still gives me fits. |

Fold. [/ QUOTE ] How about that Ed Miller "crushing the micro" thread where I believe he says something to the effect of "You have Top freakin' pair, you CAN'T fold." I often hear this in my ear nowadays when I play the weak suited Aces and flop one. Guess the pots not big enough in this case huh? |

He says "You have top freaking pair in a big pot, you CANNOT fold for one bet on the river." Your hand doesn't meet all the criteria, you can fold this one with a clear conscience.

I would raise this if the following criteria were met:
* I had a read that UTG was aggressive. * MP2 hadn't called * I had a diamond on the board * The pot was much larger In this case though, I'll take my 1 SB drubbing to save myself the eventually more expensive and likely loss on the river. |

Easy fold. You have top pair but the pot is small and you have no other draws. If your kicker was 8 or higher I would probably raise and try win the pot right there.

Three questions:
1) Why did you call before the flop if you determined after the flop that your kicker is not good enough to carry you? 2) Why do you not call the turn if you determined preflop that A4 was good enough to call then? 3) What was the rest of the hand that you didn't post? |

[/ QUOTE ] 1) Because I had a suited Ace in late position. 2) This is basically the same question right? 3) I folded. The rest of the hand is irrelevant but if you're curious I believe the flush came in and I was ahead on the flop but would have lost. Actually I would have made the 3rd best hand because the showdown loser rivered a 2-pair after flopping an 8. |

I would also fold this, mainly because your kicker is weak with no other draws and there are two hearts on the board.

Nut flush possibilities make this hand worth calling pf. Dominated hand with no other outs made folding correct. If I'm wrong someone please correct me.
