If not for outsourcing, jokerswild, you would be paying more for products.

Also, I believe the USA gains more jobs from foreign countries outsourcing jobs to the USA, than the USA loses by outsourcing to foreign countries. In other words, outsourcing works both ways and USA imports more jobs than it exports. We export mainly the lower-skilled jobs and import mainly the higher-skilled jobs. Overall it is a net gain for the USA in terms of jobs, consumer prices, and competitiveness. Some workers must retrain; hey, that's life and it has always been that way.

The negative is that certain jobs disappear or workers need retraining. That however has always happened; it's just part of progress. Old jobs have been lost due to automation and computerization too; it's all a part of the ever-evolving economic landscape. Greater efficiency is always good in the long-term.
