Default 1st Ever UK Student Poker Championship

Press Release:

First ever official UK Student Poker Championship, sponsored by Betfred

For the first time ever, all of the UK’s University Poker Societies have joined together under the banner of www.ukstudentpoker.com and have announced the inaugural official Student Poker Championship, taking place in St Andrews, Scotland, on April 2nd & 3rd 2005.

Organised by the University of St Andrews Poker Society (USAPS) and sponsored by www.betfred.com, the UK Student Poker Championship is a £30 Texas Hold’em tournament and shall be the first of its kind anywhere in the world. With its 300 players drawn from the UK Universities, the Championship will constitute the largest ever tournament held in Great Britain; eclipsing the current record of 239 players.

The founder of UK Student Poker, Christian Harris, states: “I am delighted to announce the inaugural UK Student Poker Championship and with it, the bringing together of the previously fragmented student poker scene in the UK. I am proud to have Betfred as the sponsor of the Championship and look forward to a tremendous event in April”.

The sponsor of the Championship, www.betfred.com, is the world’s largest independent bookmaker and shall be launching its own on-line Poker Room in October.

In-keeping with his reputation as the Bonus King, Fred Done, Chairman and founder of Betfred, has offered, in addition to the £9000 Prize Pool, a spectacular bonus first prize of an all-expenses paid trip to a World Poker Tour Event in Paris for the inaugural Student Poker Champion.
