Making money w/ affiliate programs

Hey everyone..

I was wondering about those of you who have been successful with affiliate programs, what techniques/advertising did you do to get people to sign-up?

I'm also talking about getting people to sign-up outside of the web. I live in a college town that is booming with young poker players and I feel there's such a good market to exploit. Many people my age talk about playing online yet just need that little push to do it. Any ideas/tips/hints? Thanks.
