Default 10/20 or 15/30

I've got the bankroll and the desire to take a shot at a higher limit than im currently playing (5/10). Is there much of a diff between 10/20 and 15/30? There seems to be alot more 15/30 tables than 10/20 and I really dont hear many people talk about the 10/20 games. whats the scoop?

I'm assuming you're talking about Party. If so, full ring 10/20 games aren't worth the effort. Your choice is between 10/20 6-max and 15/30 ring. They play very differently from each other.

Default Nightwish, please explain further....

why the 10/20 full ring games aren't worth it and why, in your opinion, the 15/30 full ring games are better?

Thanks.

First, there are very few 10/20 ring games to choose from. Second, most of the fish choose to go to 15/30 (unless they specifically want to play short-handed, and then they go to 10/20). The reason for the latter is pretty clear. Let's say you're an action junkie, you have a ton of money (maybe you just won a tourney, or you had a great run at a lower-limit game, or you're just wealthy), and you want to have some fun. If you want to gamble, would you rather play 10/20 or 15/30? You want to play the biggest game in the house, and since 30/60 is pretty much impossible to get into and you want to gamble now, you go straight to 15/30.

BTW, this often applies to B&M cardrooms as well.

Thanks Night. I understand, however, there are still good 10/20 games to be found, just less of them to choose from.

If you (A) have the bankroll, (B) can mentally handle the larger swings and (C) feel you can hold your own at the 10/20, you'd probably be better off going to the 15/30. I think my issue at this point is mostly reason B.

If you like a looser game, you should go to 15-30. The blind structure encourages more calling.

If you are very tight, play 10-20 for the opposite reason. The blind structure encourages tighter play.

This used to be the case at the Commerce 10/20 stud, too. There was a certain hard core that concentrated on 10/20, but 15/30 had more players and more casual players. 15/30 was thought of as the last limit you could go to before you started to hit the notably tougher players. Given that people thought both 10/20 and 20/40 were too tough and filled with many more sharks, 15/30 seemed like a safer place to gamble it up and have some fun.

the consensus is that 10/20 full is tougher than 15/30. 15/30 is a big step backward because a lot of people with money will put some money in to "gamble" with and play 15/30
