Default River check-raise: pay off or muck?

A quickie, to get my head back on straight.

Party 5/10 6-max. AsKd in MP. I raise, loose passive moron in the BB calls. This guy will call down with anything, including unimproved A3o. It is very rare for him to bet or raise.

flop: Kc Qc 8d. Check, bet, call.

turn: 2s. Check, bet, call.

river: 8c. Check, bet, raise, ...?

Getting 8-1, do you pay off or muck? I'm assuming nobody 3-bets.

Guy.

I instacall. And I think I'm wrong. This is where reading people/hands comes in handy, and it's not something I'm strong enough in yet. You say he doesn't raise unless he has something. You think he raises you with a Q? From your description, I doubt it. I think a player confident in his abilities can fold this with the right read. I can't.
