Default Good laydown or scared poker? JJ

Elysium was dealt:
coldcoldcold posts small blind of $0.10, Bluzn55 posts big blind of $0.25, Zach folds, Elysium calls $0.25, ch102247 calls $0.25, VegasRain folds, Denkeeper folds, BRUZER69 calls $0.25, coldcoldcold folds, Bluzn55 checks.

Flop:
Bluzn55 bets $0.25, Elysium raises to $1.85, ch102247 calls $1.85, BRUZER69 folds, Bluzn55 folds.

Turn:
Elysium checks, ch102247 bets $5, Elysium folds.

ch102247 mucks

ch102247 wins the pot of $4.80.

Stacks are about even at the $25 buy in.

Limp with jacks? I usually do, seems that you raise and get called by any number of face card combinations that have you beat once that Q, K or A hit the flop 50% of the time or whatever it is.

After I made my set on the flop I bet the pot. He thought for a little bit and called. Put him on JT...

Turn is the queen to make his straight. Or so I assume. Check it to him and he bets out.

So what do you think? Good fold? Or call and look for the house? Or do I still have him, I'm not sure I can rule out two pair.

also a bonus hand with more jacks. $25 stacks around.

Elysium was dealt:
Stylistic posts small blind of $0.10, kyledude posts big blind of $0.25, BRUZER69 calls $0.25, Bluzn55 calls $0.25, Zach folds, Elysium calls $0.25, ch102247 folds, VegasRain folds, islandRE raises to $0.75, Stylistic folds, kyledude folds, BRUZER69 calls $0.50, Bluzn55 calls $0.50, Elysium calls $0.50.

Flop:
BRUZER69 bets $0.25, Bluzn55 folds, Elysium calls $0.25, islandRE raises to $2, BRUZER69 calls $1.75, Elysium raises to $11.35, islandRE folds, BRUZER69 calls $9.35.

Turn:
BRUZER69 checks, Elysium bets $16, and is all in, BRUZER69 calls $16.

River:
Results:
Elysium shows two pair, Jacks and Nines
BRUZER69 shows two pair, Aces and Nines

BRUZER69 wins the pot of $57.05.

Any way I don't lose my stack here?

Default Re: Good laydown or scared poker? JJ

first one, most likely a good laydown.. no use messing with it, considering the (relatively) small size of the pot, in my opinion. raising jacks preflop is debateable in my book - i used to do it, but have found more success lately by not doing it... it does seem the overcards flop a little too often.. plus, if i flop my set of jacks, chances are that i will have the best hand at the showdown (barring straight and flush draws - situations like the one in your first hand).

the second one i might be able to add some insight to.. i had a similar situation here (not quite, i had other problems, but you can read what other people had to say). basically, you encountered a lot of resistance on the flop, and might well have known that your hand was beat right there.. it's true that sometimes people might call you with TT, or some other pair larger than the 3, but i don't think it will happen often enough to make it a +EV move to keep pushing afterwards (which i learned from my own post, which is linked above)
