Default Too panicky post flop?

I find myself pretty much ready to get out of a hand on the flop, unless I hit something really big (straight or better). If I'm looking at top pair, two pair, or even trips, I'm ready for everyone else to lay down their hands so I can collect my money. What this has amounted to is that I'm rarely winning decent pots because I don't hit those big hands very often. And since I'm playing so tight (early-mid) in these SNGs, the percentage of hands where I'm even in the pot and THEN hit something is not very high. I find myself way too often on the bubble and shortstacked. Do I need to be willing to take a little more risk and let the pots grow?
