Default Won the stars $500+$30...

I just started posting here so I figured I'd ask - anyone watching the final tables? Any questions or comments for the way I played?

Congrats on your win. I didn't see any of the tournament so can't offer any abuse/advice/praise etc though.

Nice job!! I only saw a bit (the deal making part) but I was glad you didn't get bullied around.

Did you play a satellite the same day? I was pretty sure we might have qualified together. If not I was watching you earlier in the tourney.

Will you lend me five dollars so I can play some of the microlimit games, I promise to pay it back

You're rich now. Quit poker NOW, LOL

Questions:

1) How do you plan on getting that money out of pokerstars without causing some serious IRS red flags?

2) Does that much money go into your pokerstars account? (making for one inflated account).. or do they send you a certified check or something?

3) what are your plans now poker-wise?

4) How long have you been playing to achieve this goal?

5) How did you build your stack/make it happen?
great starting cards? great flops? No bad beats? Delivering a few key bad beats?
I'm always interested in hearing how people got to where they were.

I'll write a more full report later, for now I'll just answer a few questions.

Banks only have to report $10k deposits or a series of deposits of $10k (not sure how long the window is on the series though). Of course, that's irrelevant because I would never try to cut the IRS out of their fair share... . For now I'm just going to withdraw it slowly. I took out $10k today and that'll last me a while.. no need to yank it all out now.

In a completely unrelated topic.. if I were to get a neteller account and get a neteller debit card, I could withdraw directly from there without any bank records, right? Just curiosity asking. I'm with firepay but they don't seem to have anything like that.

Straight into the account, had $95 or $96k in there.

I'm considering playing the big tournies in the WCOOP. Other than that, I want to take a break from poker. Too much too often and I'm getting a bit burned out. I may attend a few of the smaller WSOP events next year, possibly up to the $5k event. If I happen to cash in an early one, I'd probably buy into the main event with that money.

I was also thinking of traveling where I could also play poker - go on a poker cruise, fly to vegas, biolxi, wherever. I figure I can make enough to at least pay partially for the vacations, and it would be fun to make money while travelling.

I'm not gonna get stupid and think I can take on the $100/$200 games now, though, and blow my money.

4) How long have you been playing to achieve this goal?

I made my first deposit in May of last year - I've been playing as a full time semi-pro since about January.. I'd say I started playing seriously late last July or early August, so about exactly one year for serious play.

I'm always interested in hearing how people got to where they were.

I actually only delivered one bad beat - where I was more than a 3:2 or so underdog, during the whole tournament IIRC, and that was in a situation where I was basically forced all in anyway. I mostly just played solidly, picking up small and medium pots gradually. I played.. well not fearlessly but I took risks. I reraised open raisers that had me covered with mediocre hands when I read them as weak, that sort of thing - and when the blinds and antes are big, those sorts of moves can be huge.

I'll post a report later - I should mention that I made an absolutely remarkable comeback. With 18 players left, and over 2 million chips in play, I was crippled down to 1500 (yes, fifteen hundred) chips at one point and came back to win it.

The transaction limit is $5K now, as it has been for 2 or 3 years.

Yikes. Good to know.

I've heard a series of deposits up to X amount also gets reported - how long a window is there for a series? If I withdraw $4k one day and then $4k 2 days later, am I okay?
