How do you promote an affiliate code

I have a question about being an affiliate. How do you promote your signup codes other than mentioning it in appropriate threads, which borders or even crosses the line on spamm, PM's to those who request them, or the classified section?

I also know that an advertisement can be purchased here.

Do you have a card made up that you pass around to people you meet in casinos? That would seem like it could get the same reaction from the pit bosses as it gets here from posters and moderators. I know some have websites dedicated to some aspect of poker with their own ads, etc.

This is SPAM and should not be done. Websites seem to be the best way.
