More Baseball Trivia
This one may be relevant to all you Houston Astro fans.

Re: More Baseball Trivia
Is this a trick question...isn't it the Florida Marlins?
Edit: Oops, stupid Wild Card... |

Re: More Baseball Trivia
I know the answer, but I didn't know that was the only time it ever happened.
In that case, I assume Florida must be the only team to win the World Series after firing the manager (they turned that trick without winning the division). |

Re: More Baseball Trivia
You're right. I screwed up. I meant the last team to do it.
1989 Blue Jays. Fired Jimy Williams, Hired Cito Gaston. Hey maybe the Astros can combine the two? Fire Jimy and hire Walpole Joe? |

Re: More Baseball Trivia
Don't want that to happen. Want Joe available for when they dump Francoma.
PS That's not a typo. FRANCOMA |

OK! BLUE JAYS! LET\'S! PLAY! BALL!
Adios, Jimy Williams (who replaced Bobby Cox in 1987).
Hello Cito Gaston and the 1989 ALCS. Of note: Jose Canseco was the first player to ever knock one into the 5th deck at SkyDome in Game 4. The only audible sound in the building for a full 5 seconds after it went out was the thud of 50,000 jaws hitting the floor. I, for one, was in the middle of paying for peanuts when it happened. If you don't believe players are on 'roids, Last week, Josh Phelps became the first player to do it twice in his career. I saw the first one live from my friend's seats in the first row at the outfield end of the Jays' dugout. That was awesome. |

Re: More Baseball Trivia
There must be others, but in addition to those mentioned, the 1978 Yankees. Surely you Red Sox fans must remember Mr.Dent. (Billy Martin fired, Bob Lemon hired)
