Default The board rivered a Royal Flush.....

...just curious as to the odds of that happening versus holding a RF. It happened tonight in our tourney. I find it hard to believe that i'll see that again.

Do you mean what are the odds of getting a RF using just 5 cards versus the odds of getting it using any combination of your 7 cards? The odds of it in 5 cards are 4/52C5 which is really small. Like 1 in 649740. The odds of it using any 7 cards are (4*(47*46/2))/52C7 which is also really small. Like 1 in 30940. Note this is the odds you get it, the odds anyone gets it on a hand are higher. As a check this makes it is 21 times more likely to occur using any combination of your 7 cards (649740/30940) than just the board. Well if you have a RF in your hand it uses 5 cards. There are 21 distinct 5 card hands from your 7 (7 choose 5). And only one of those 21 is the board.
