i see u made you decision, but for others info, I payed 20 bucks for morpheus ultra and it is rediculous. dont use the free version as it installs infy bundles of [censored], but the 20- bucks was the best i ever spent.

if i'm paying for music (which i do most of the time), i want a cd, not a restricted computer audio file recorded at a low bitrate.

For the lazy:

"Of this, major label artists will end up with only 8 to 14 cents per song, depending on their contract. Many of them will never Artists Get Ripped Off. even see this paltry share because they have to pay for producers and recording costs, both of which can be enormous. Until the musician "recoups" these costs, when you buy an iTunes song, the label gives them nothing."

Shareaza is one of the better p2p clients I have used, and my results for mp3s comes out well.

It's the same way with hard copies. Artists don't make their money selling albums. They make it touring. How many of them do you think would do any touring at all if that wasn't where most of their money came from?
