What are the cause of S+G streakiness?
I play 55$ stars sit and goes, and I have just recently moved up last month from the 33's. I consider myself to be a solid player and post and ROI of around 35% for the last year. I still am perplexed by the fact that I can run 4 or 5 1sts in a row, only to be playing the same quality poker and run into 5 or 6 straight losses. I realize in sit and go play that other players mistakes, even while you are not involved in a pot can affect you, as well as the fact, that the tighter the room, the larger the blinds will be per stack later in the game. But what else causes this streakiness? Does anyone else experience this and how do you deal with it?

Re: What are the cause of S+G streakiness?
It's just math. If your ITM% is 40%, you will lose 4 SNGs in a row 13% of the time you play 4 in a row. Winning streaks will happen less often because they are less likely, but they will happen if you play a lot.
There's no "cause," it's just an exercise in statistics. Irieguy |

Re: What are the cause of S+G streakiness?
I've seen some wild swings. I recently has a stretch of 18 out of 28 in the money, and then followed it up by missing the money 12 of the next 13. I never thought I would get used to these swings, but the more I play, the more I am. And if I am ahead at the end, that is all I can ask for.

It's definitely the poker gods either pitying you or taking out their wrath on you. It helps to build an altar to them, and sacrifice a few ants or cockroaches at the altar.
(Of course. You just keep playing, realizing it's an inherent part of the game.) eastbay |

Hi eastbay,
[ QUOTE ] It's definitely the poker gods either pitying you or taking out their wrath on you. It helps to build an altar to them, and sacrifice a few ants or cockroaches at the altar. [/ QUOTE ] Absolutely not true. As every serious poker player knows, the only way to appease the poker gods is to dance naked in the front yard, in the rain, by the light of a full moon, while yelling out to the neighbors: "Big Slick Big Slick!"
