Default All-in here?

Blinds have just gone up to 1000/2000 and you've recently been moved to a new table. You have 4000 in chips. 1 limper in middle position who's got about 7000, you're at the cutoff. Button "stole" the blinds last hand. You look down at pocket eights. Your move?

If I'm low stacked and not close to the final table then I'm looking for 2 good cards to make a stand with and 88 would definately qualify.

However, if you're at or near the final table and there are lesser stacks to yours which will get blinded out and the money difference between the finishing places is significant then I'd consider mucking.

Assuming you're not at the final table yet I make my stand with the 8s.

There were 6 tables left, with only the final table getting paid.

If you are waiting for osmething better than 88 when you have 2xBB, you are going to be in trouble. Push!!! I don't see the MP having any pocket pair higher than 88s otherwise you would expect him to have pushed already.

Well.. I did push with my pocket eights and as fate had it the button quickly pushed in his own 10000, one of the blinds called, and the MP limper folded. Button turned over AA, blind had something unmemorable, I didn't spike a set and I proceeded over to an omaha8 cash game where the only chips I pulled down for 3 hours were on a stone cold bluff. Not even a quartered low. Great night.

Anyways.. thanks for reminding me that I made the correct move.
