Not really, just because it isn't as left as CNN doesn't mean it's Vatican TV. I think the average joe, on either side of the asile, doesn't pay much attention to the far off nuts of his party, and lives life his own way.

At least I do

btw- I'm sure FOX viewers are above the mean in income and computer/internet access. So I find it a good ploy.

i admitedly did have initial thoughts along the lines of sfer's.

but i also agree with the bit about fox being above the mean in income and internet-access....and also the bit about MOST americans being closer to center than many of their party's representatives.

for example, my parents are extremely conservative (we're talking almost Rush Limbaugh conservative)....but they hardly think gambing or internet-gambling is a sin that is going to banish me to hell.

i think it would be 'more ironic' (if such a thing is possible) if Party could somehow advertise on CBN....preferrably during Pat Robertson's show.
that would ROCK!!!

i heard a "news" story on a christian radio station a couple months ago about the evils of these "illegal" internet casinos. the story came complete with a phone-number one could call to help "fight" this horrible problem plauging are country.

but, the fact is, i think most americans really don't care.
hopefully, most americans will learn that the congressmen who are shouting the most against it are primarily coming after a whole lot of Americans who play a few poker hands or place the occasional sports-bet online.

obviously there are some addicts out there who blow through some major bucks online....but i hardly think there are that many more of these online then there are in B&M casinos or who blow through too much of their paycheck playing scratch-offs or power-ball or what-not in their local convenience store.

the congressmen are also trying to use the argument that kids can grab their parents' credit-cards (or use their own) and play online....but i think a kid can get online and purchase just about anything else if they wanted via a credit-card, and i dont see a big clamor to keep the kids from inappropriately buying a zillion X-Box games over the internet (for example).

just my random $0.02.

espeically interesting that you are reporting this from Maryland so I am assuming you are referring to Baltimore Orioles games (but i thought that was HTS?? maybe you watch the Phillies). obviously Baltimore is the team that is followed the most in Washington DC so they very easily could be reaching some of the nation's lawmakers.

Hey Bob,

If I ever run into you, I will buy you a drink for mentioning HTS! ("More sports... your sports... HTS!") After Comcast bought out all of the local cable providers about 6 or 7 years ago, they dropped the HTS moniker that the companies had spent 10 years building up, and changed it to Comcast Sports Net.

I should actually update my profile, as I now live in DC. I was born in Baltimore and grew up in the Maryland suburbs of the District, so I'm an O's fan and am pleased for the most part that DC does not yet have a baseball team, and I can get every single game on television here. That being said, I'm going to the night-cap tonight... ORIOLES MAGIC, FEEL IT HAPPEN!
