You nailed it, Zeno. The problem behind the whole idea of a "culture war" involving a certain group of leftist academics is precisely that so few people listen to what they say. I disagree with you in your categorization of the material as completely worthless - to me, PoMo stuff is mostly garbage but there are some really important insights hidden within the scraps - but either way, this has never been an intellectual revolution that's threatened to shake, or even mildly perturb, society.

My facetiousness gets the best of me at times. In addition, I am sometimes trying to stick a needle in my John Cole voodoo doll (especially related to postmodernism) or at least throw a rising fastball under his chin. He rarely flinches but I doubt if he can contain himself and steer clear of this thread. Though I say this with some trepidation, he may stand me on my head.

Default Most telling

If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain.

This one is easy. Those coservatives that display superior intelligence tend to gravitate towards financial rewards rather than academic ones. Now tell me who's smarter

[/ QUOTE ]

And yet, liberals aren't out their favoring affirmative action for liberals in corporations as conservatives are in academia.

But they should be. And we must go further. There aren't nearly enough conservatives in the Green party or liberals in the Republican party.

I wonder how many liberals there are at Bob Jones university or dozens of other conservative religious schools. Should they have to hire more liberals? Should the University of Chicago Economics Department have to hire fewer free marketeers?
