Battle of the Blinds, pounding with a draw
Party Poker 5/10 game, folded to me in small blind with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I raise, my opponent 3-bets, I call. His reraise is a big surprise, he's loose, so a call is to be expected, not sure what he will reraise with in this situation.
Flop comes J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I check, he bets, I check/raise, he calls. Turn is 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] I bet, he calls. River is T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] I bet, he calls. I bet the river hoping he would fold a hand like AK/AQ that would earn a split pot against me. Anybody think I was too aggressive with a draw against a loose player? Should I check/call the river, instead of betting? Results to follow. |

Re: Battle of the Blinds, pounding with a draw
I probably play it exactly the same way, then curse at my screen when my opponent calls the river, then hate the way I played the hand, then look back at the hand and wonder how I should have played it differently, and then I think I should probably just check the river because my loose opponent isn't folding an A and probably won't call with K-high, but he might check a medium pair.

I like your play here. Depending on the outcome, you can vary your play if you get another battle of the blinds with this player.

When I bet and he called I figured I was toast. I was hoping for 1/2 the pot to get pushed to me when the whole pot comes my way!
Seems he had 55 with the 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and had called the river playing the board. Not sure what this means, should I play draws more passively against players like this? Or is he calling hoping his flush outs are good? |

Re: Results
His river call was awful, but he can't fold any sooner considering the board, his hand, and the situation.

Re: Results
Yeah you're right, guess I'm trying to get too much information out of this 1 hand. Not enough big cards out and a couple of draws make calling down the play for him.
So would bet the river in my position? |

Re: Results
I don't know (m)any people in this shorthanded sequence who are mucking an ace on a double-paired board, do you? So I guess I'm saying I'd check it down unless I knew he could/would call with K or Q high (or the board. )
