I think that meets the criteria of being a maniac. Since he's on your immediate left, use him to manipulate the other players at the table. Raise into him knowing he'll reraise with anything which will help to thin the field (or make it headsup). Check to him so you can trap the players in between you and him when they call his single bet. Be aware that others at the table may try to do the same thing and adjust accordingly.
