Paragon casino trip report
Made a run to Paragon casino in Marksville, Louisiana, Saturday night. They still give $8 food comps for 4 hours play. 1-5 stud is non-existent now with one stud table that sat empty all night. 4 games were going, two 2/4 and two 4/8. NL does not happen at this casino with all the old farts afraid to lose their money in one hand.
You've seen the perfect storm? This was the perfect table. Seat #1-Old man calling station #1 Seat #2-Old man calling station #2 Seat #3-Me Seat #4-Another 2+2er Seat #5-Old lady calling station Seat #6-Another 2+2er Seat #7-Drunk LAG #1 Seat #8-Drunk LAG #2 Seat #9-Drunk LAG #3 (They were all friends there to GAMBOOL!) Seat #10-Mr. Unabomber who played 80% of his hands and had enough tells to fill up a Caro book. Basically the three 2+2ers raped the table for the next 4 hours. I cashed for $293, another for around $250, and the 3rd for about $150. Kelly from Grand Casino in Kinder has been hired as the new poker room manager to try and breath some life back into this room. He's made a few changes. 1-MAD MONEY. Sunday thru Thursday from Noon-2pm and 8-11pm a random seat is drawn every hour and that player gets $100. 2-BAD BEAT JACKPOT. I found this strange having never seen it before. If the bad beat hits the prizes are distributed as such: 30% for loser, 20% for winner, and the remaining 50% is divided amoungest the players in the room who were playing at that time. Weird. 3-TOURNIES. One Monday night, Tuesday afternoon, and Friday night. However they plan on having WSOP sats this spring. The rake is still $5 max with an extra $1 for the jackpot, but really with the pot sizes, the effect of the rake was negligible. Thanks for listening. zulu |
