How to calculate a pair beating the same pair?
What's the probabilty of say, 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img],8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] beating 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img],8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ?
And on top of that, how do you calculate it? |

Re: How to calculate a pair beating the same pair?
The only way for 8-8 to beat 8-8 is a four flush on board, or a board flush with at least one lower card...excluding any lower straight flushes. In this case there is only one per suit.
(2 * [C(12,4) * 36 + C(12,5) - C(6,5) - 1])/C(48,5) = 2.17% |
