Re: A day at skill poker part II
The point is not to create a variation of poker that is based on skill.
The point is to create a variation of poker that gives the appearance of being more skill-based than regular poker, to satisfy state laws that classify regular poker as gambling. Whether there actually is more or less luck in this new type of poker is irrelevant, as long as the courts buy it. |

Re: A day at skill poker part II
Luck, skill, voodoo or otherwise, this site sucks. Two out of the three multi-level tournaments I've tried today have totally frozen up.
I know they're just starting up, but there's too much competition out there for poker dollars. If they do get this thing off the ground, it's going to crash back down to earth in a hurry. |

Well skab, we're both still sat there.
We only have 100 chips too, very odd. Lori |

Re: A day at skill poker part II
All the frozen tourneys from yesterday are still in the lobby. Apparently when five out of the eight players bust out in a NL tournament, the software has no idea what to do.
To give you an idea of how asinine this is, imagine a multi-table at UB where 10th and 11th bust out simultaneously and the software -- seeing only 9 players remaining -- then decides it can't open a final table. This is ugly. |

Re: A day at skill poker part II
I just logged back in, and it took me to my seat.
Remind me to bust out if I cannot catch the leaders in future. On an aside, they are intending to remove the current rankings from the games when they go live, surely this makes collusion more likely, not less likely, as you and I could tell each other the chip standings on our respective tables? Re: A day at skill poker part II
If the hands are played out of order over the distribution of the event, then we already have this 'skill poker'. It's just the everyday common or garden poker that we play now -it's just that we play a veeeery long version of it to make sure we all get the same distribution of hands between players. So all you have to do is compare bankrolls after many hours of play. Geddit?

Re: it was designed by a l\'li ole lady & a cop, Bingo players...
I learned a lot of new stuff from your posting. I had no idea that the U.S. Congress was going to run up into Canada and slap padlocks on the bad guys.
Canada has a lot of gin mills and whorehouses - hopefully the U.S. Congress will padlock those also and, while they're at it, lock up those bastards who're always saying "heh" |
