also it is sometimes good to play in the tougher game as a learning tool. if you only play against loose weak opponents, then your chances of improving and moving up levels successfully becomes less. an ability to change to table conditions and to recognise table conditions changing is an important skill to learn. knowing how to handle yourself in tighter, more aggressive games and how to defend and steal blinds successfully will make you a much better player. i'm not suggesting you actively seek out these challenges, but sometimes, just stay on a table that gets short or one whose better player quotient increases to get in some practice.

Does anybody know why the sharks just hang around with one another? Inertia? They just like quick hands? Am I missing something?

It's probably because they aren't "sharks," but "rocks." A VPIP of <15 is too tight, even if they're playing that occasional AA aggressively. They're probably clearing bonuses or have r*keb*ck, which is more important to them than risking their money on pocket 10s.

Get them on your right, never limp in, and steal their blinds like you're the neighborhood bully.

Isn't your rake (and therefore your rakeback) affected when your winrate is decreased? For example a rock with just 1bb/100 winrate will get a lot less rake back from a player who's having a 20vpip and a winrate of 5 for example. Isn't this true?

Yes, less profit equals less rakeback. But they are there for the bonuses primarily.

Absolutely true. Also bonuses also clear much more slowly. A smart player would be better served to play to win at a fishier table.

But we're not talking about smart players.
