Re: Goddamn do I love Ray Lewis
[ QUOTE ]
I dont know how he's not in the top 5 on anyone's list. When you talk about greatness, its not just skill, its big playes, leadership, making a team better, football knowledge and many other intangables. Have you seen a team with a worse offense win the Super Bowl, like the Ravens did? I think not...while he is surrounded by good players on defence he makes them all better. You also have to account for the times, this an era where every team has a potential 1,000 yard back, and the skill lv in the NFL now is much greater than it used to be. [/ QUOTE ] There are apparently a lot of people who haven't watched the NFL for the last decade or so. |

Re: Goddamn do I love Ray Lewis
I got to hear Manning speak at this event in Dallas in the offseason and he was talking about Ray Lewis, he said that when Ray Lewis hits you he lays on you for a couple seconds, then looks right at you and says. "I'll be back here in a minute."
Thought that was pretty funny. |

Re: Goddamn do I love Ray Lewis
How the hell can you list Deion? Last time I checked, tackling was a critical part of playing defense. Deion is like Steve Kerr, a specialist at an important part of the game but certainly nowhere near the best player. Rod Woodson is a heck of a lot better player than Deion.

Re: Goddamn do I love Ray Lewis
I don't know, for a number of years he was the type of "specialist" who could take away an entire side of the field.

Re: Goddamn do I love Ray Lewis
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Freaking stud. [/ QUOTE ] He's overrated. Great leader/mmotivator etc. He's def lost at least a step. Sick that he's still top 5 ILBs in the league. Prob top 3. [/ QUOTE ] He's not what he was a few years ago, but how could he be. He'll go down as one of the 5 greatest defensive players of all time and IMO he's top 2 with LT, slightly ahead of Reggie. [/ QUOTE ] There was NFL football before 1990. I would concur that Lewis is one of the all-time best, probably in my top ten defensive players, but #2? Really? Also, Ray Ray? You can't stop Peyton (unless you are Belichick), you can only hope to contain him. Nice job for 30 minutes Sunday. |

Re: Goddamn do I love Ray Lewis
Haha, deion is my man, you had to build a game plan around him. At the end of his career he didn't get too many int's because no one even bothered to throw the ball to him. Also dont overlook his return game as well, could also change the game in one play. Maybe I'm bias because he's from my home town, but he's the man.

It also brings back good memories with the scuffles between him and Andre Rison.
