I read a review when the film came out, saying that Stone had created the monster that he condemns with NBK, and that's pretty much how I feel. I do admit that I was and am a sucker for his use of color, animation, flashes of characters' subconsciousness, but I enjoy that stuff as I would enjoy a candy bar, tasty, but without any nutritional value.

[ QUOTE ]
I had heard that he told a couple of actors, Steve Buscemi being one of them, that if they took a part in NBK for Stone, they would never work in one of his movies again.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is a ridiculous statement. When NBK came out, Tarantino was a nobody and would have had no pull with any actor.

I remember thinking this was awesome when I saw it in the theatres and I was like 14.

It's almost unwatchable now.

I don't know if it's true, never did.

Reservoir Dogs was released two years before NBK, and Pulp Fiction was released the same year. True Romance was released the year before, so he wasn't exactly a nobody.

It's awesome when that douche from 3rd Rock from the Sun goes "I know that killing is wrong and all, but if I were a serial killer I'd want to be like Mickey and Mallory."

Agree. Horrible movie on so many levels. Stone was trying to go deep and make a satire about violence in our popular culture. But the problem is the movie is exactly what Stone was trying to satirize. The only Stone movie I liked was Platoon. But I was young when I saw it the first time. I saw it again recently and it kind of bothered me.

This is bad movie that's uncomfortable to watch, not because of the violence, but because of the camera work and the fact that it's really really stupid.

The medium is the message - The movie's psychedelic style is what it's about...

If you don't "get" psychedelia, you don't get it....

I dislike this move MORE after having done mushrooms.

It portrays nothing realistically.
