I definitely turn off the stupid celebration noises, but I like the sounds. You can turn off the icons? I didn't know that.

In further defense of P'Stars:

Twice in the last two weeks Party has folded my hand as if I had the "fold to any bet" box checked, and both times they were monster hands (a set and a nut straight). And I have never even once used that box.

That shi* hasn't happened to me at P'Stars yet.

One of the most important things when moving up in stakes and adding tables is cleaning up the view you see when you play. Choose a good background color you can easily look at, clean up the player names and such.

As an example Here is my current table setup for PS. Very clean and easy to read. I have edited quite a bit of the program and made any actions light up with a darker blue. The sky is the limit...

turn off all those sounds and characters, use a 4 color deck. You can remove everyone stack sizes and play like that if you want. You can remove playernames so all you see is stats, etc..

directly cnp'd from another thread:

first off you should never view it as a quantum leap kinda thing. just take little shots when you feel comfortable, have the money and are good enough. here's a hand waving yardstick:

try 50NL when:

- you're confident in your preflop game
- you understand position
- you have a good idea of their hand by the river
- you have an ok feel when to continuation bet
- you have 500 or more

100NL when:

- you're confident playing draws
- you can spot good semibluff opportunities
- you can lay down AA/KK unimproved
- you're attacking the blinds in easy steal situations
- you have 1200+

200NL when:

- you're ok betting your stack on a draw
- a PFR from you doesnt always mean AA-JJ and AQs+
- you're starting to play one hand while holding another
- you have more than one mode
- you have 3000 or more

400NL when:

- you can ID profitable preflop steals
- you know how to pick between b3b and c/r
- position factors heavily into your play
- you're good at manipulating pot size
- you have 6000+

1K NL when

- your lines don't define your hand
- you're good at playing and winning lots of small pots
- your oop opponent must hold a strong hand to win a pot from you
- you understand the real math of the game at least at a basal level
- you have 20000+

also, you were winning at 50 and dropped? why? IMO one should stay at the highest SSNL game they can beat until one reaches like 200. the learning is worth so much more than the money long term.

[censored] it you're right.

I'm happy earning $33/hour now... but I want more. I don't need the money now. I'm playing NL$50 from now on and only moving down if I hit a 6 buyin downswing.

with a BR of 2.5K 6 buyins at 50NL is normal variance to most players. As long as you're confident you're playing winning poker theres no reason to go down.

Bankrolls at $1500, so I'm not sure that I could stand a $300 fall and keep my head on straight - for that reason I'd move down. In a month's time if I've been successful at NL$50 I could withstand a $300 drop no problem.
