Default 20/40 defending blind with a pair on A high flop

villan is a reasonable player whose opening standards from the button are probably along the lines of 22+/JT+/Q9+/K7+/Axo+ and a rank or 2 lower if suited.

5 handed 20/40

Button opens, I call in BB with 48s.

3cAs8h

I check, button bets, I raise, button calls.

Qd

I bet, button calls

Qh

I check, button bets, I fold.

How does one go about his defense in these situations?

I wouldn't defend with 84s, but I do believe that a better postflop player can profitably so I'll let it go.

I would play it the same. Once he calls the turn, I'm done putting money in.
