Great post. I think that is a point that is not made nearly enough. When starting 5/10 I naturally fell into a 20/15 style and kept wondering why I was playing so weak.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that someone who had 1k hands on me had me at 24/17 when I was looking for ways to add vpip. I eased my way in and it will take some time for my numbers to reflect where im playing at now. I'm not doing great so far by any measure, but I'm winning and getting better every day.

I want to thank everybody for the advice in this thread. I used to feel like a donk for having this VPIP after seeing some of the threads here. Now i dont feel so bad.
