Default Question re: someone staking you.. (not stalking)

What is the basic cut of any monies won when someone or a group is backing you in a Tournament and paying the complete entrance fee? I'm assuming it's 50/50 correct? And you give them their 50% minus the taxes. Is this right?

I'd say 70/30.

Whoa. I'm being offered 50/50 as the player so I best keep my mouth shut and accept. Thank you Sir

I think 50/50 is more standard for that type of deal.

I do see a small ammount of 50/50s going on these days, but they are always from novice stakers. You should def. take it though. Np.

If this is for a single event, that is, you will settle up after playing only one event for the backer(s), then anytime they are giving you more than 10%, you are getting a good deal. And that's assuming that you're a solid winning tournament player. By that I mean a player who has a reaasonable expectation of making a significant profit in this event. If you're not a winning player, then getting anything at all, even 1%, is a great deal.

Thanks for the reply Greg. I'm in the catbird seat then because this will be my 1st Live Tournament ever. God Bless the novice backers And a hearty congratulations to you on your WSOP achievements!
